Well, my house is sparkling!

It’s not clean, but it’s sparkling.

We’re trying to read more, so we sat on the couch after the school work was done and while the bread was cooling for lunch, to read about eight library books together.  Only D didn’t stay with us, he found glitter I didn’t even remember I had (or it would have been up much higher) and dumped it.  Three bottles.  I’m wondering where the fourth bottle out of the package is.

I didn’t even notice until I went to make lunch and wondered why there was red glitter on the tile in the kitchen.  He’d been playing in the sink.  There was red glitter there.  There’s glitter in the living room carpet, glitter in the music room.  This kid gets around!  All three of them ended up with it on their feet and my whole house now sparkles!

Sweeping helped a bit.  It doesn’t vacuum up.  Mopping doesn’t really work, it sticks to the mop.  Wet wipes sort of helped.  Now I remember why I hate glitter.

Other than that, we had a great day except it took me until 6:30 tonight to figure out that D is grumpy because of the time change.  Dinner was late and his body was wondering why he wasn’t getting dinner before 7:30 p.m.  Poor kid.  He was whiny before lunchtime too.  Now I get it.

We started India this week and read some great books which I’m too tired to go and find to list right now.  We got everything else done on our plans.  D did some cutting.  C did some cutting and tracing and everybody was generally happy.  After quiet time we went to the natural history museum at the University.  It’s free on the first Monday of every month.  A remembered last week and wrote UMNH on my calendar for me so I wouldn’t forget.  Pretty smart of him, I’m prone to do that, unintentionally or not.  I think we wore them out sufficiently.  It will be really nice if they’d quit getting up at 6:00 a.m.  I like this time change, I can get up earlier now, but I don’t want them up quite so early.

I only took about two or three pictures at the museum before my camera battery died.  Thank goodness for digital cameras though, I took the equivalent of seven rolls of film last month.  Now if I can just remember to recharge the battery on a regular basis, we’ll be doing good.

Just remember, all that glitters is not gold.

It could be red or silver.

There’s glitter on my crockpot.

Great post! When I first saw your title on Guanaco’s blog feed list I clicked on it immediately, figuring I’d get some much needed inspiration to make my house “sparkle” too. …Well, I guess that’s one way to do it! (Enjoy … they’re only young once).

Sorry about the glitter! It sounds like an adventure to clean up. But the rest of the day sounds like it went well.

There’s a definite reason I don’t keep glitter in the house.

My kids have also been hungry early this week and I didn’t realize the reason ’til I read it here. Duh.

The only thing worse than glitter (for cleaning) is hair from haircuts. Ugh, it just sticks to everything. I’m so sorry for you. It sounds like you handled it ok, though.
