Hill AFB Museum

2008 July 19

The plan was to go to the Hill Air Force Base Museum as the finale to our unit study on airplanes.  However, due to the meandering pace we’ve been taking through the history of aviation, we’re only up to the planes of World War II, but we decided to go anyway as DH had a free day.  I’m sure we’ll continue learning about airplanes into next week and probably beyond (we sure checked out a lot of books and videos!)  But my interest in airplanes wanes anyway after World War II.  I’m much more interested in vintage aircraft than modern, except of course, for the Concorde.

D loved the “monster face”:

We had just watched a video on WWII aircraft and C was so excited to recognize “the Gooney Bird” (otherwise known as a C-47 or Skytrain):

 It was a great fieldtrip!
