Not So Great Mondays!

  • I woke up with a headache, Tylenol is doing absolutely nothing for my aches and pains lately, and I can’t take ibuprofen.
  • I can’t decide if these are only pregnancy aches or if our little car accident a week ago is still affecting me, as it is DH.
  • DH scheduled a physical therapy appointment at the same time as my dr.’s appointment today.  Luckily he was able to move it.  Luckily I discovered that fact in time for him to move it!
  • We spent 10 minutes at least searching for our Story of the World book today.  Every week there is a book we cannot find.  It’s driving me crazy.  I just can’t seem to keep school supplies organized.
  • I’m not the only one–A conned DH into letting him play while I was at the dr. because “I can’t find my math book, anywhere!
  • I found it in 15 seconds, it was right under his grammar book in his box, which grammar he was also supposed to do while I was gone.
  • DH freely admits he was a pushover today.
  • Our house is developing Flylady’s CHAOS–Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome.  (So nobody just drop by this week, ok?)
  • Every child in this house needs a Velcro Day with Mom wherein Mom holds their hand and walks them through every single thing they’re supposed to do all day long so that it will actually get done.  In the past few weeks, it feels like every time I ask them to go do something, they get distracted and sidetracked, often by each other.
  • For Family Home Evening tonight, we had a long talk about this, and got a commitment from everyone to be better at doing what they’re supposed to be doing, when they’re supposed to be doing it so Mommy doesn’t have to continually be on their case.

There were some good things to think about too:

  • We had Family Home Evening.
  • The kitchen floor got mopped.
  • We finally finished schoolwork, although I fell asleep in the middle of quiet reading time in a most uncomfortable position on an armchair and my back is still groaning at me even though I slept for two hours.
  • My body needed the sleep.  All the practicing and concert stress from last week has caught up to me.
  • The concert went well, although I think my brain was a little foggy from Tylenol and I had trouble responding as quickly as I should have in certain spots.  I don’t think I made any egregious mistakes though and the audience enjoyed our music.
  • C and D did do their schoolwork while I was gone to the dr. today.
  • I’ve gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks and my doctor is thrilled.
  • I remembered to buy red cabbage for our science experiment this week.
  • The boys got a lot of play time with their entire wooden train set (while I was sleeping) instead of tackling the giant mess we call their bedroom. (Which was my original plan for this afternoon.)

Today also marks 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell.  That is definitely something good to think about, although it’s hard to believe it’s been over 20 years since I was able to visit both East and West Berlin in August 1989 and have the unforgettable opportunity to travel through the Iron Curtain.  It certainly made me appreciative of our freedoms.  I only hope we will continue to fight for our freedoms and never take them for granted.

We had a pretty rough Monday as well. Not be organized enough was the culprit. And my house is in a state of CHOAS as well. I really should go work on that instead of reading blogs…
I hope your aches and pains get better. It can’t be fun for you.

I never did comment on your post yesterday. I want to thank you for your post. They sure did beautiful. Honestly, they suprised me. I had done everything I could to make sure they were ready for the music. But when it comes down to it, it couldn’t have been a success if they hadn’t stepped up. I was so proud.

I actually had a hard time not crying during the whole thing. I honestly think my being too busy saved me on that one. I must admit, though, I am relieved to have it done. We learned a new song during singing time-we’ll add the bells to it on Sunday-and we’ll perform again on the 22nd. After that, we’re on to Christmas performances. They sure are popular!
