Jedi Training Academy
I hadn’t realized that there was a Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland until I saw pictures of my cousin’s son being chosen to participate a few months back. This was probably by far the most anticipated event of our entire trip by at least one of my boys. C had huge dreams of being a participant and even planned to wear his Star Wars shirt the first day we went to Disneyland. D did as well and was almost as excited as C. We were told that children are chosen randomly, but the loudest and most obnoxious may have a better chance! They eagerly awaited the Jedi masters to come to the stage and begin their selection of young padawans.
Several children were chosen from our side of the audience before they moved to the opposite side. The disappointment was almost palpable, but then I could tell the Jedi were coming back to our side to choose some more. I told C to, “Quick, quick, take off your fleece!” So his and D’s shirts were now showing and they were both chosen right after that! It was a dream come true.
They got robes to wear,
and light sabers to practice with.
Time to put your skills to good use, my young padawans–
I had no idea what all was entailed with this, so I was surprised as anything when the stage began to rise revealing Darth Vader and two storm troopers.
Then Darth Maul came out.
C and D both got a chance to have a light saber duel with Darth Maul–easily the highlight of the day!
Any takers on joining Darth Vader on the dark side???
No!
But we’ll do a photo op–

Amazing! We’ve been rewatching all the Star War movies–my kids would love this (even the older ones)!
