Familysearch–The LDS Church’s site for research, contains over 1 billion names in free searchable databases plus the Family History Library catalog for the largest genealogical collection in the world housed in Salt Lake City

Ancestry.com–Paid subscription site, contains the entire US Census records from 1790 to 1930, plus thousands of other databases, also extensive message boards for connecting with family members and other researchers

Ellis Island Records–Search for immigrant ancestors

Cyndi’s List–The master list for links to all things genealogy

Genealogical Maps of England and Wales–Search for early parishes and towns in the British Isles

Genealogy and Kids–Utah Genealogical Association’s links and instructions for kids doing family history

Ancestors–Website for the excellent PBS mini-series, with tutorials and much information for beginning researchers

Tribal Pages–Build your own family tree website for free

Free PDF charts–Pedigrees, family group sheets, and research forms

Personal Ancestral File–FREE and very easy to use program for organizing genealogical data, download from Familysearch.org
