Out of the fog

September 11, 2008

which is my brain. . .

I spoke too soon.  Last week I was telling someone how wonderful this summer has been, I’ve only been hit with hay fever twice, and only once was really bad.  Then this week happened.  Allergies hit me hard, and this was after an emotional heartache kind of week to begin with.  This is the worst I’ve felt in a long time.  I don’t know what’s out there, but it doesn’t like me.  Every September I feel like this (except last year we were fortuitously in Nova Scotia at this time.  And I felt great!  Lesson learned–take vacations the second week in September.)

After going through my mother’s Kleenex like it was candy yesterday, I was pondering over the fact that homeschool moms don’t really get to take sick leave.  I mean you can crawl in bed and not teach, but you’re still there.  They’re still there.  They need to be fed.  They want your attention.  You’re still the mom whether you’re sick or not.  There’s just no escape.  Thank goodness for Sudafed or whatever allergy meds I found in the cabinet.  I’m starting to feel like myself again.  Slightly.  After heartache and tears, lack of sleep, a runny runny runny nose, a massive headache, watery eyes (fun when you’re trying to drive), and killer sneezes, I feel like I’ve been through the wringer.

I have a sunflower outdoor challenge to write about (which probably exacerbated the hay fever yesterday but we had to do at Grandma’s house because our sunflowers haven’t even bloomed yet) and a weekly report sometime because believe it or not, we actually got quite a bit done this week.  But it will have to wait another day or two.

And today’s September 11th, and there are just so many memories there and some things I’d like to say, but my brain’s in no condition to think coherently any more. . .

So sorry to hear! I hope you feel better real soon. I know what you mean about not being able to really take a day off. We moms are just too important and needed to take breaks!
