But I don’t own anything Pink…

August 10, 2009

And I won’t have to buy anything either, because this baby is

BOY #4!!!!

ultrasound profile

And while going to the ultrasound completely threw off our school day, there’s just nothing like having an up-close lesson on human anatomy and development.

Although C is very sad, he wanted a little sister so badly.

They’ve gone hi-tech since the last time I’ve done this.  I have an old VHS tape with portions of the previous three children’s ultrasounds on it.  They sent us home today with a dvd, three printout photos, and a cd with 17 or so more including some 4D pictures that are really weird looking.  The tech said those will look a lot more realistic in 8 weeks when I’ll have to go back for another ultrasound to check on growth.  Apparently the umbilical cord is a 2-vessel cord (artery and vein) rather than the normal 3-vessel cord (artery and 2 veins) but so far all the internal organs are perfectly formed and are actually measuring on or ahead of my dates, which is a first.  At 27 weeks though, we’ll do a follow-up and make sure everything is still growing as it should.

Hi, Mom!

the wave

10 little fingers, 10 little toes, and one little…well, you know.

It’s definitely a boy.

Haha! Love how you wrote this. My doctor told me after my third daughter that once a woman has the same gender three times in a row the percentage of having the same thing the next pregnancy goes from 50% up to 90%. Something to do with how acidic or alkali the woman’s body is. He also said unless some major change occurs either in weight or in the life of the mother that percentage will stay 90%. After six girls we moved to a totally different city, started up a new farm, etc. Finally got a boy. =)

    CONGRATULATIONS!

Even though a girl would have been fun, another cute little boy is wonderful! Congratulations! Ultrasounds are so exciting. It truly is amazing what they can see. It is so reassuring to see all the little toes and fingers as well as the heart, lungs, liver and stomach. I am glad that everything seems to be going well.

You may not think Jon’s comment is as funny as I thought it was, but I had to share. When I told him it was definitely a boy he said, “Hoorah! Now they don’t have to move! They can just add the baby to the boy’s room.”
