D-isms

June 22, 2010

5 is such a fun age, and our 5-year-old says the funniest things. (Which never sound as funny when typed out but they made us laugh.)

  • Today he asked me what day of the week it was.  I said it was Tuesday.  “Oh, so it’s Dad’s day off.”  Why yes, yes it is.  It’s also 4:00 in the afternoon and have you not noticed that Daddy’s been here all day long?
  • He was really worried the other night and didn’t want to go to bed.  “What if I get hungry in the middle of the night?”  “Are you hungry now?” we asked.  “No.”
  • The “ther-monitor” is what we use to hear when the baby is awake from his nap.  (It also carries Daddy’s snores on occasion.)
  • He finally calls Sam’s Club by the right name.  Every single one of our boys called it “Sam Clubs” for quite a few years.  It’s kind of sad when they grow up and learn to pronounce things correctly.
  • He threw up last week.  I asked him what made him sick. He said, “Maybe apple–it looked kind of apple-ish.”
  • He’s been asking when we’d have a break from school for a while now.  I told him he could have a week off this week.  He’s been so excited, saying, “A week off!  We get the whooooole weeeeeek off!”
