Spring Break just can’t be over yet!

March 27, 2011

But alas, it is.

What did we do all week?  We:

  • Played board games (mainly Sleeping Queens and Scrambled States of America)
  • Played outside except for when it snowed again
  • Read books–I finished two about World War II and they all had fun looking through The Coolest Cross Sections Ever book.
  • Had to move the armchair away from the wall so the baby will quit climbing into the windowsill and giving us a heart attack
  • Read more books–C reminds me of Hermione in Harry Potter, i.e. “I just checked this out for a bit of light reading.”  He’s heavily into naval warfare at the moment.
  • Played the piano, in our pajamas
  • Practiced the cello…much practicing of the cello (not in pajamas)
  • Researched curriculum for next year
  • Opened packages from UPS!!  And there are more on the way!
  • Got excited about First Form Latin
…and I’m not sure what that says about me.
  • Also got excited about MCT Language Arts vocabulary book (and it’s not even here yet!)
  • Flew through Mind Benders book 2 in an afternoon (and A was almost done with book 3 until he left it at Grandma’s house)
…and this was supposed to be our logic curriculum for next year
  • Ordered Mind Benders books 5 and 6
  • Built the H.M.S. Victory from popsicle sticks and a disposable bread pan (should have taken a picture)
  • Colored with markers
  • Scrubbed Sharpie off the piano bench
  • Wondered why we even own Sharpies
  • Spent time quoting The Emperor’s New Groove: “Wrong lever!  Why do we even have that lever?”
  • Baked a double batch of chocolate chip cookies…twice
  • And a chocolate cake (all by himself)
  • Wondered how many extra calories A’s baking infatuation is adding into our lives
  • Built towers (ok, I built them and he knocked them down) and was generally cute

  • Except for when he made Mommy go crazy looking for the camera which he stashed in the crockpot.  That was not so cute.
  • Also played in a concert, had many rehearsals, taught a few cello students, watched BYU basketball lose to Florida, went grocery shopping, helped collect Scouting for Food food, and went to a missionary farewell.  And a bunch of other things I’m probably forgetting now.  Like D doing two math lessons because he’s excited to finish his book and start the new one that came in the mail.

What we didn’t do: House stuff.  House hunting.  House decluttering.  House cleaning.  (Mainly because DH decided to earn some extra $$ and ended up working 36 hours of overtime on his 3 days off.  Which were then not off.  Not even remotely.  And we didn’t see each other for most of the rest of the week between that and extra symphony rehearsals on my end.  And I lost the desire to do the dirty work of decluttering without him here to help, or at least here to keep the little guy from pulling stuff out of the kitchen garbage, playing in the toilet, or any of the other fun stuff he’s interested in lately.  So…the house is still kind of messy.  And we’ll just leave it at that.)

It sounds like a fun spring break. At least you found the camera. The photos are great. I have such cute grandsons.

    Lots of love
