Memory Work Monday

May 9, 2011

Memory work!

It’s working!

The boys love it for whatever odd reason, and we’re retaining information.  D had a scripture to read for family home evening tonight that happened to be one of our memory verses and he was able to say almost the whole thing by himself after he realized what it was.  It was awesome!

So what’s on the list this week?

Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 130:18-19: Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.  And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence  and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.

Articles of Faith: A and C are working on #5, D is on #3.

Skip Counting by 3, 4, 5 for C and D

Poetry: “The Months” by Sara Coleridge is new this week.  We finally finished learning “The Voice of Spring” and then memorized “How Many Seconds” by Christina Rossetti last week so those are both in our review sections.

Poetry definitions:

  • Foot: the repeating rhythm in a line of poetry
  • iamb: 2 syllable foot–unstress, stress
  • trochee: 2 syllable foot–stress, unstress
  • anapest: 3 syllable foot, stress on third
  • dactyl: 3 syllable foot, stress on first
Latin as always…
