Saturday was one of those days…

June 6, 2011

One of those days where you just have to say, “Wow!  How did I get to be the mother of this incredible and amazing child anyway?”

C turned eight last month and in our faith, that means he has reached the age of accountability and is able to make the choice to be baptized, which he did.  On Saturday afternoon he was baptized, received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by DH.  Or as C says, “Now I’m official!”

It was an amazing day that I just want to remember forever.  There was one other little girl being baptized and we had a packed house just for the two of them.  It was wonderful to feel all the love and support in that room.  We felt the Spirit so strongly.  I am in awe of this child, but then I am in awe of each of my children.  We are parents to some incredibly strong and valiant spirits and I feel truly blessed to be their mother and to have been entrusted with the sacred responsibility to teach them and raise them here on this earth.  C, in particular, has such enthusiasm for the gospel and has been so excited for his baptism day.  He has been counting down for ages and has literally been glowing ever since.  He truly exemplifies this scripture in Mosiah:

And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

May it ever be so.

I love baptisms. What an exciting day for your family. That smile says it all.
