About those booties
Someone crocheted these booties for me when I had A. They’re not very boyish, but each of the boys wore them on their blessing day. I wanted Little A to wear them as well, but I couldn’t find them in any of my searches through baby clothes while preparing for her birth. Then I happened to come across them in my dresser a few weeks ago. They were stained though and yellowed in spots.
So I turned to Google; I love Google! You can get an answer to just about anything. So I tried “get stains out of baby booties.”
Score! I found the Fairy Child Heirlooms blog with this post about stain removal and thought I’d try it. I had to go to Target to buy some Biz, which I’ve never used before but I already had Dawn liquid dish detergent. Since I was only doing the booties, I got a small container and put a cup or so of hot water in it with about a tablespoon each of the Biz and the Dawn and put the booties in to soak. I might mention that since I’m really good at procrastinating, it was already the Friday before her blessing when I got around to this so I could only soak them overnight.
On Saturday I threw them in the wash and they came out looking perfectly snow white just as though they were brand new! I was so happy! They were just right to go with her dress.
And now I get to do it again because DH sucked one of them up in the vacuum tonight.
But it’s ok because I have several no-longer-very-white items though that I want to work on next.
I love when things work out! And the blessing dress you made, turned out beautifully!
